Bourbon Cocktail Spotlight: Autumn Dawn & 2nd Course

We are excited to share two of this year's cocktails for Boudin, Bourbon & Beer, created by Delmonico Steakhouse lead mixologist, Juyoung Kang. The Autumn Dawn & 2nd Course will be available at Boudin, Bourbon & Beer on Nov. 4.

INSPIRATION FOR THIS DRINK?:

Autumn Dawn was inspired by the fall flavor cinnamon. When I think of cinnamon I think of fall. I love tea and black tea and cinnamon pair really well like a hot toddy. So this is a refreshing crisp flavor of an autumn morning. 2nd Course was inspired by the classic cocktails Gold Rush and a traditional whiskey sour. And I used Cynar, an artichoke flavored liqueur, to add a bit of depth and savory notes to a simple cocktail. Making it pair well with food. Hence why it's called 2nd Course.

FAVORITE OFF-DUTY DRINK?:

I usually don't drink the cocktails I make although I think they're great. It's kinda like when chefs don't eat their own food. I usually like scotch or scotch cocktails. Booze forward and bittersweet. My favorite go to is Blood and Sand or a Rob Roy. Otherwise my scotch go to is Caol Ila or Oban.

WHAT TYPE OF DISH WOULD YOU PAIR THIS WITH?: 

Because both cocktails are refreshing with flavors I would say they can pair well any entree. I say Autumn Dawn work best with meaty, gamey dishes while 2nd Course would pair better with fish, chicken and pastas.

BEST PLACE TO ENJOY THIS COCKTAIL (BESIDES BOUDIN, BOURBON & BEER, OF COURSE):

Any time of course. The cocktails doesn't discriminate against time or day or person for that matter. It's an any thing goes cocktails.

1.5oz Bourbon

.5oz Averna

.75oz Lemon juice

.75oz Black tea and cinnamon syrup

2nd Course

1.5oz Bourbon

.5oz Cynar

.75oz Lemon juice

.75oz froth

.75oz honey syrup
