Mark McWilliams, born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, has worked in the wine industry in Sonoma County since 2000. Mark's family purchased land in Sonoma County in 1996 with plans of developing it for vineyard use. Mark's first job in the industry was a summer job working to prepare and plant their 40 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon.
After graduating from the University of Texas, Mark’s first job out of college was with Kendall-Jackson – first in the vineyards, then harvest logistics, and finally the cellar. In 2002 Mark’s parents began Arista Winery, a boutique brand focused on Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Over the next decade Mark, with his brother Ben, grew the family business from a few hundred cases to several thousand cases while developing a strong reputation in the industry as a quality producer and a not-to-be-missed destination.
In 2012 the brothers purchased Arista from their parents with the shared vision of further defining the potential of Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. After the purchase the brothers brought in a new winemaking team, invested heavily in their estate vineyards, and began built a state of the art winery. The results were immediate. Since the release of their 2013 vintage Arista’s wines have consistently been rated 90 + by all major wine publications including the Wine Spectator, Antonio Galloni, and the Wine Enthusiast.
Mark oversees sales and marketing for Arista. Mark and his wife Jennifer live in Healdsburg, California with their four children Jake, Pierce, Macie and Maggie.
