David Kinch has forged a distinctive culinary path putting him at the forefront of new contemporary California cuisine. His philosophy is fostered by the terroir, or “sense of place” of the California Coast, and the kind of ingredient-driven cooking and modern technique he studied around the world.
Manresa earned three Michelin stars for 2016-2018, and in 2018 received the AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Travel Awards. Manresa has been on the World’s 100 Best Restaurants list for 12 consecutive years, and joined Relais & Châteaux in 2016. Kinch has been nominated for the James Beard Foundation’s “Outstanding Chef” award in 2018, 2017, and 2014.
In 2010, he received the Foundation’s “Best Chef: Pacific” award. His first cookbook, Manresa: An Edible Reflection, was on the New York Times “Best Sellers List” and he also received an Emmy in 2016 for his role in the PBS series “The Mind of a Chef.”
